Application of Spinning Process on Shaped Charge Liner
The shaped charge liner is an important performance component of .armor-destroying shells and anti-tank rockets. After the shock wave generated by the explosion reaches the shaped charge cover, the metal is strongly compressed, and the micro element of the cover moves rapidly towards the axis direction (the speed can reach 1000~3000m/s), so the shaped energy effect is generated.

The properties of the shaped charge cover are not only related to the structure, shape and size of the shaped charge cover, but also directly related to the material, manufacturing method and processing quality of the shaped charge cover. At present, the materials of the shaped cover mainly include copper and bile. The shape of the drug-shaped cover can also be divided into single cone, double cone, arc, spherical shape and other rotating structures. There are many manufacturing methods of drug cover, including turning forming, stamping forming, spinning forming and forging forming.

This paper mainly describes the spinning forming principle of shaped charge liner. According to the change of wall thickness of billet in forming process, the spinning type can be divided into ordinary spinning and power spinning .

Ordinary spinning mainly changes the shape of the blank, and the wall thickness of the blank is almost the same or changes very little. This kind of spinning is mainly to change the diameter size of the blank to form the workpiece. The cutting free forming process of the thin wall rotary body is realized by the feed movement of the blank rotating by the wheel pair.

Power spinning, also known as thin spinning, refers to the spinning process in which the thickness of the blank and the shape of the blank change simultaneously during the forming process. The biggest difference between strong spinning and ordinary spinning is that strong spinning is a volume forming category. In the process of power spinning, although the wall thickness of the blank becomes thinner, the volume of the blank is almost unchanged, and the shape of the finished product is determined by the shape and size of the core die. In the process of power spinning, the wall thickness of billet decreases, so the area of spinning becomes larger, so the compressive stress plays the most important role in its stress state. And the power spin can have a large amount of thinning in a spin, so the power spin in the production efficiency is obviously higher than the ordinary spin.

Powerful spinning is one of the most important processing methods for mass production of shaped charge liners  which can be used to process the shaped charge liner of various complex shapes such as single cone, double cone, horn and curve with different cone angles. The shaped charge liner after spinning has a certain anti-spin compensation effect on the low-speed rotating projectile, and brings certain benefits to armour breaking. At present, power spinning is the most effective way to process the shaped charge liner. The process flow of power spinning is short, the process device is simple, and the material utilization rate is high, and the product cost is low.
